Pregnancy can feel a lot to deal with. So much is changing, and everyone has an opinion.
Your friends and family continue to smoke, and maybe your baby’s dad does too.
You want to stop, and you can – but you may need some help, it’s not easy.

The sooner you stop smoking, the better for you and your baby.
Stopping smoking will help you and your baby immediately. Harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide, and other damaging chemicals will clear from your body and your developing baby.
This will increase the oxygen in your body and therefore in your developing baby, giving your baby a chance to grow to his or her full potential – meaning you are more likely to have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby – and reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), also known as cot death.

You can do this – you may need help – that’s OK.
Ask your Midwife about free, friendly support, based on proven techniques to help you make a change – or make a call yourself. The first step of emailing or phoning can seem the biggest. So we promise a friendly voice from someone who understands.
If your partner smokes too, it can be hard to find the strength to stop by yourself. Quitting smoking together increases the chances of change for all three of you.
